Habitat Orlando & Osceola President & CEO Catherine Steck McManus and Board Chair Robert Stuart Jr. were joined by District 5 City Commissioner Shan Rose to ceremoniously break ground on the homes in Parramore, which will be sold to local families with affordable mortgages.
“At Habitat Orlando & Osceola, we know housing is the cornerstone of community progress, and we’re thrilled to celebrate the impact we’ve made in Parramore,” McManus said. “In partnership with the City of Orlando, we’re excited to continue investing in the future success of this historic community.”
Since its founding 40 years ago, Habitat Orlando & Osceola has built more than 70 homes in Parramore – including 10 last year. The nonprofit was honored in May with a Golden Brick Award by the Downtown Orlando Partnership in the Sustainability & Resiliency category for this work showing how thoughtful housing investment creates lasting impact.
The City of Orlando has been a steadfast partner of Habitat Orlando & Osceola, providing grant funds through their Community Investment Program, as well as providing down payment assistance to many Habitat homebuyers.
That impact of this partnership reflected in our homeowners’ stories. They are bankers, teachers and bus drivers. Each of them now with a stable, affordable foundation to build their futures and build up their community.
