What drove your organization to get involved?
WillScot has sponsored Habitat for Humanity International for many years as our key community partner in the cause of shelter, and our annual corporate contribution has allowed us to offer team builds in, among other places, Orlando (one of our major employee population centers)—since 2023.
What is WillScot’s mission when it comes to philanthropy? How does working with Habitat Orlando & Osceola help further that mission?
Being Community Focused is one of WillScot’s core values as a company. Our philanthropic mission focuses on four core cause areas: shelter, hunger, education, and health & wellness. We call our program “Give Where You Live” to encourage our employees everywhere to give their time, talent, and treasure at the local level. Working with Habitat for Humanity Greater Orlando & Osceola County has meant our Orlando-area employees have had the chance to make a local difference, helping families near them build strength, stability, and independence through affordable homeownership.
What about Habitat Orlando & Osceola’s own mission resonates with you?
WillScot shares Habitat’s vision for a future where everyone has an affordable place to call home, a stable foundation that fosters health, opportunity, and progress for all. We believe the Habitat model offers an important tool in addressing the housing crisis.
How has the experience of working on Habitat homes benefited WillScot employees?
In addition to giving our employees a sense of shared purpose and contributing to their local community outside of their regular workplace and workday, Habitat volunteer team builds offer a fun day of learning new skills and camaraderie—and greatly enhance the employee experience.
What would you say to other organizations that are considering donating, volunteering, or partnering with Habitat Orlando & Osceola?
Our employees love having an easy and ready-made way to contribute to their communities, and they don’t need prior experience to get involved. Employees in other branches around the company are inspired by the work we’ve done with Habitat Orlando & Osceola over the past several years.
