March 2020 marked the third year since the groundbreaking at Habitat for Humanity Greater Orlando & Osceola County’s third affordable new construction community, Arbor Bend.
In that time, Habitat Orlando & Osceola completed the Apopka neighborhood made up of 34 homes.
It’s the neighborhood of Rodreca, a single mother whose four children inspired her to begin her Habitat homeownership journey.
Harriet moved there in 2018 with her brother, who has a learning disability. They now have a safe, comfortable home after years of living in an unaffordable rental that was infested with mold and rodents.
They are just two of the 34 families who now have safe, affordable homes in a new construction community.
This homeownership rejuvenation in Apopka was the result of a unique public/private partnership between Habitat Orlando & Osceola, Orange County Government and Homes in Partnership, Inc.
The work still isn’t done in this area of Apopka, however.
Juniper Bend, a 24-home new construction community, is being built by Habitat Orlando & Osceola as well as Habitat for Humanity of Seminole County & Greater Apopka.
Juniper Bend features a similar aesthetic to its sister community. Habitat Orlando & Osceola will build 10 homes in this neighborhood.
You can help more local families experience the peace and freedom of owning an affordable home.
