This Women in Construction Week, we want to recognize the leader of Habitat for Humanity Greater Orlando & Osceola’s construction team: Growth Management Officer Lucie Ghioto.
Lucie’s commitment to building energy-efficient, quality homes ensures that our Habitat Orlando & Osceola homeowners enjoy their affordable homes for generations to come. As the leader of our construction team, she has refined existing procedures and implemented new ones, enabling our affiliate to have better control over our construction process and make the best use of our donors’ resources.
Lucie has brought much-needed expertise to our affiliate over the last eight years, not only with construction skills, but also in helping us understand the requirements of government grants and the needs of our government partners.
One such example of a government partnership is our roof replacement program. With aid from our staff and local government, Lucie established this program to help local homeowners receive critical repairs that they would otherwise not be able to afford. This helps local homeowners stay in the otherwise affordable homes they love. Over 200 roofs have been replaced since its inception.
In the male-dominated construction industry, Lucie has made a name for herself as an advocate of affordable housing. In her day job and role on volunteer boards, Lucie always represents the interests of our future homeowners in encouraging affordable homebuying initiatives.
Thanks to Lucie’s work, Habitat Orlando & Osceola fulfills our mission to pioneer innovative housing solutions, empower individuals through knowledge, and transform communities by addressing the root causes of the housing crisis.
