This week we want to send a special shoutout to our supporter, Granite Construction. Granite Construction’s Ildefonso Salvá-Huertas, Sr. Project Control Engineer, shared more about why his company continues to partner with Habitat for Humanity Greater Orlando & Osceola County.

We so appreciate that Granite Construction has chosen to work with Habitat and support our mission. What about Habitat Orlando & Osceola’s mission resonated with Granite?
Granite is committed to building not only infrastructure, but stronger communities. Our involvement with Habitat for Humanity is a natural extension of that commitment. Supporting efforts that help local families achieve stability and long-term opportunity is important to us, especially in the communities where we live and work. Opportunities like this allow our teams to come together, work safely and collaboratively, and take pride in delivering quality results that make a meaningful difference. Partnering with Habitat provides a hands-on way to contribute to something lasting, while reinforcing the principles that guide how we work every day.

What is Granite Construction’s mission when it comes to philanthropy? How does working with Habitat Orlando & Osceola help further that mission?
As part of our mission to make a lasting difference in the places we live and work, we give back to our communities through donations and by volunteering our services, supplies, and people power. Granite supports charitable organizations nationwide through financial contributions, and we support our employees in their individual quests to better their communities. Each year, we make funds available to regional business units for charitable contributions to local nonprofit organizations. Granite’s Corporate Charitable Contributions Committee oversees donations from our corporate charitable budget. We further empower our employees to contribute their time to their communities by offering employees two paid days of volunteer time off annually. This creates a foundation for us to act more strategically, plan team volunteer opportunities, and enhance how we contribute to a more sustainable future in our communities. Working with Habitat for Humanity supports that mission by giving our local teams the opportunity to support their local communities.

What would you say to other organizations that are considering donating, volunteering, or partnering with Habitat Orlando & Osceola?
We would strongly encourage other organizations to get involved with Habitat for Humanity. It’s a unique opportunity to give back in a tangible way while bringing your team together around a shared purpose. The experience is well-organized, welcoming, and designed so that everyone can contribute. It creates an environment where people can collaborate, learn from one another, and take pride in work that has a lasting impact on a local family’s future. For organizations looking to make a meaningful difference, this kind of partnership goes beyond a typical volunteer event. It strengthens teams, fosters a sense of connection to the community, and leaves a lasting impression on everyone involved. Our experience has been incredibly rewarding, and it’s something we would highly recommend.
