Overview:

We are now accepting applications for:

• Our FREE roof replacement service to help residents enhance the safety and resilience of their homes

• NEW in 2025: FREE major home repair and roof replacement services to help residents recover from Hurricanes Ian and Nicole. Repair work of up to $150,000 is available per qualified household. Repair scope of work is determined and approved based on the home inspection and documentation of damages. 

Applicants must meet qualifications based on income, type of home, and location. See below for details.

Please note: Spots for qualified applicants are very limited!

Also note, that upon approval, starting the repair is dependent on when program funding is received. It may take several months after receiving approval for the repair work to be completed.

The application process

1.  There is a prescreening link on this page. You will be asked about the requirements listed above.
2. If you meet the prequalification requirements, you will be sent a formal application – and be asked to submit supporting documents, such as:

• • Identification documents for all household members such as birth certificates, social security cards and driver’s licenses
  • Legal documents verifying relationships such as marriage licenses, divorce decrees, adoption or guardianship papers
  • Income documentation such as pay stubs, benefit award letters (SSI, Social Security Retirement etc), child support order and payment history, tax returns
  • If self-employed, we require the following:
    • Must provide complete tax returns (w2 or 1099) for the two most recent years (All schedules must be included).
    • Year to Date Profit and Loss (prepared by third party)
  • Asset verification for all household members, including most recent bank statements for checking, savings, money market, CD’s. Verification of any stocks, bonds, or life insurance policies.
  • Proof of homeowners insurance and flood insurance if home is in a flood zone
  • Most recent mortgage statements
  • Proof you live in the home
  • Proof you own the home
  • Proof of Hurricane Ian or Nicole damage (for major home repair)
  • Each applicant’s situation is unique and the documents required will depend on the applicant’s individual situation.

3. Habitat Orlando & Osceola construction staff will contact applicants for a pre-inspection.
4. Eligible applicants will then be sent to the funding agency for final approval.
5. Approved applicants will be contacted to execute final paperwork for the roof replacement or the major home repair to be completed.
