Individual Volunteer Opportunities
We invite individual volunteers to join us as part of our Crew Leader program and to fill in build day volunteer slots as needed.
Volunteer Crew Leaders
These special volunteers come to the build site regularly to guide less experienced volunteers. It’s a modest monthly commitment, and you’ll receive training. A great Habitat Crew Leader doesn’t have to have professional experience in building or construction, but familiarity with tools and building materials is preferred. You just need a positive, friendly attitude and patience to guide those new to a construction site.
Criteria:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Works well independently as well as with groups
- Comfortable working in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and debris. This position requires the extended use of PPE including hard hats, masks, and harnesses.
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- As understanding and communication of safety and technical instructions to volunteers is a significant part of this role, English fluency is required.
- Demonstrates mutual respect towards supervisors, volunteers, and partner families
- Successfully pass a criminal background check

25 Years of Volunteer Service
A quarter century ago, Bill Droste signed up to volunteer at a church-sponsored Habitat build site. That experience expanded into 25 years of dedicated service as a crew leader with Habitat Orlando & Osceola.
That’s over 1,000 days—6,000 hours—on the construction site, and he says that’s a conservative estimate.
“Habitat became a habit,” he joked.
Limited Individual Opportunities
Occasionally throughout the year, we have a need for individual volunteers to fill in on our build site. These volunteers will help with the same tasks our Sponsored Team Build groups would do, such as painting, siding or landscaping.
