Supporter Spotlight: Duke Energy Florida creates Power Communities with Habitat Orlando & Osceola

Duke Energy’s commitment to serving its customers does not end at providing energy. With nearly 4,000 employees throughout Florida, Duke Energy is actively engaged throughout the community.

“For Duke Energy, Creating Powerful Communities means powering the lives of our Duke Energy customers and the vitality of our communities,” said Melissa Seixas, Florida State President of Duke Energy Florida. “Duke Energy Florida is committed to assisting all of our customers, especially those who are most vulnerable.”

As a company, Duke Energy recognizes the economic hardships many customers continue to experience due to COVID. While the company has expanded its own programs within the utility business to offer additional billing assistance and energy efficiency programs, Duke Energy recognizes that its communities and customers need additional support.

Habitat for Humanity Greater Orlando & Osceola County’s mission to build homes, communities, and hope resonated with Duke Energy’s own focus to build Powerful Communities. Duke Energy recently awarded Habitat Orlando & Osceola a $10,000 grant in support of these important objectives.

“Now more than ever, the communities we serve need additional assistance,” Seixas said. “We want them to know we are here when they need us most.”

The Duke Energy Foundation makes strategic investments to build powerful communities where nature and wildlife thrive, students can excel and a talented workforce drives economic prosperity for all.

“We support organizations like Habitat for Humanity because we know Habitat offers life-changing options for the families we serve,” Seixas said. “As a company, we believe we can work together with Habitat for Humanity to make a tremendous difference in our communities.”

Supporting the community is central to Duke Energy’s belief in responsible corporate citizenship, Seixas said. Whether it’s through our Duke Energy Foundation or through volunteer hours, the company believes there are many ways it can make a difference and maximize its impact.

Providing families a home also provides a foundation for every individual’s quality of life and a region’s economic vitality.
