In 2015, the Neighborhood Revitalization (NR) program, in partnership with the Universal Orlando Foundation, brought minor exterior repairs, painting, clean up and minor lawn care to 50 households in the Greater Washington Shores area.
As we look ahead to 2016 and our first year of the program comes to a close, we are exploring changes to the program. The Neighborhood Revitalization program was introduced to help keep homeowners in their current home and promote pride in the community, so we are looking at ways to expand the program to include major repairs in addition to the minor repairs and painting that we currently offer.
Through the support of dedicated volunteers and staff, Habitat Greater Orlando began surveying residents of the neighborhood surrounding Butler’s Preserve this month with plans to wrap up in January. The survey will help us learn more about community conditions and will be used to help us decide how to refocus the Neighborhood Revitalization program to bring critical home repair to the homeowners who need it most.
If you are interested in assisting with the surveying, contact our Volunteer Manager Katie Kochan at 407-648-4567 ext. 220.
We wish you a Merry Christmas and thank you for making it possible for 10 families to share their first Christmas together in their own new home!
