Wind Mitigation Inspection

A wind mitigation inspection examines your home’s resistance to wind and hurricane damage and identifies potential issues. After an inspection, you may receive a premium discount on your home insurance. Savings can range from a few hundred dollars to well over $1,000 a year!
4-Point Inspection
A 4-point inspection covers four crucial areas: HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), electrical systems, plumbing, and roofing.
These inspections are required by insurance companies under specific criteria. As homes age, insurance companies require 4-point inspections for new coverage or policy renewal. Beyond the age factor, homes older than three years face an elevated risk of structural and safety issues, which a 4-point inspection can detect.

Award will be subject to approval of final application and funding availability.

Home Requirements
To be eligible, your home:
- must be your primary residence – owner-occupied
- cannot be a mobile/manufactured home
- must be in the selected blue area of the map below (click map for larger view)
- must meet wind mitigation inspection and/or 4-point inspection criteria to receive voucher

If your application is approved, you will receive a voucher for a FREE wind mitigation and/or 4-point inspection along with a list of recommended inspectors. Habitat Inspects helps homeowner save $3,300 a year on home insurance
Habitat Orlando & Osceola homeowner Melissa realized she was paying nearly $5,000 a year for her insurance premium, which was putting a huge strain on her, especially while she was living off her savings due to an injury. She quickly set up an appointment with Habitat Orlando & Osceola, where she was referred to the new Habitat Inspects program and signed up to receive a free wind mitigation inspection.
Once the wind mitigation inspection was completed, she worked with Habitat Orlando & Osceola staff to find a more affordable home insurance policy to fit her needs. She now pays about $1,700 a year — a $3,300 savings compared to what she was paying before.
